About Us

Rainbow Facepainters is owned and operated by Shelimar Lakowski.  After taking an extensive professional make up artistry course, she worked as a facepainter at the Vancouver PNE summer fair for her teacher.  Shelimar then took on the contract, employing up to 10 artists for 5 more years.  Shelimar registered the company name after successfully convincing  the government that "facepainter" was a true occupation.  Facepainter is now one whole word with a cosmetic meaning.  Please add it to your dictionary.  Shelimar strives to upgrade the quality of facepainting services, and to elevate the expectations of the public in terms of hygiene and beauty of work.  

Maintaining Rainbow Facepainters for 26 years, Shelimar also works as a potter, teacher, and ceramic studio manager.  

Facepainting Artists

Diane

Diane works as a set sculptor for film.  She is a member of the IATSE Union.  She is a painter, ceramic artist, and fibre artist.  She has a BFA from the U of Calgary.  Diane has been with us since 2012.  

Larissa

Larissa is a professional glassblower and ceramicist, and has been exhibiting in since 2009.  She has a BFA from the Alberta College of Art and Design.  Larissa has been with us since 2015.  

Olga

Olga is a Russian Icon artist, painting on various surfaces including canvas and ceramics. She has been with us since 2008.  

Rebecca

Rebecca has designed and manages a community garden. She works with women in the DTES, through programs offered at the Union Gospel Mission.  Rebecca has been with us since 2015.

You are not only very talented, but also you have a great way to work under the pressure (so many kids wanted to have their faces painted) and still being able to keep your smile.
